A Summer Al Fresco Meal

Tremblay’s was hired by Rob to deliver a delicious summer meal for a special occasion!

Sixty years, nine courses, one Buddha cake

We were asked to throw a surprise a 60th birthday party for a family in Southampton. Lockdown seemed to be against us but we accepted the challenge and the results were fantastic!

The party was for the birthday girl, ten guests and their children. To comply with lockdown restrictions (and because the weather was on our side!) the party was held outdoors. We planned the menu around the guests’ dietary requirements and created a delicious nine-course tasting menu. A tasting menu always feels fun and festive, and the guests eat small portions of a wide variety of food. The different dishes were all great conversation points, and the party was soon buzzing with foody enthusiasm.

In addition to being great party food, the advantage of serving a tasting menu during lockdown is that everything can be portioned and served individually, with guests able to help themselves without risk of touching someone else’s food.

We also sourced a unique cake for the party. As Jean is interested in Buddhism, we were tasked with finding a baker who could make us a Buddha cake. With our wide network of contacts, we found the perfect cake company. Jean was thrilled with her cake, as the pictures show.
